I have just recently learned that I will have to start watching what I eat again before I end up diabetic. So I have started trying healthier foods like turkey burgers, grilled chicken salad and wheat bagels. I do not like bland, run of the mill, boring food so I have come up with a way to spice up my diet food starting with my turkey burgers. Which isn't hard once you master how to cook the meat itself. Turkey can be some of the driest meat when cooked that's why I recommend adding some olive oil to the pan.
Here is a good recipe I made the other day. What you need is chili powder, red onion, bell pepper and some salt and pepper.
Dice the onion (1/4 cup)
Dice the bell pepper (1/2 cup)
Add the bell pepper and onion to the meat and mix thoroughly.
Add a teaspoon of chili powder, a pinch of salt and some pepper. Make the patties as big as your palm or as big as you want them and cook on medium-low heat until done. This allows the meat to cook without drying out. You dress the burger how you like it. I like mine on a toasted sesame seed bun. Enjoy it with some tea, lemonade, beer or wine.
I thought this was delicious but I would love to hear what you think of it.
